Everybody Loves A Parade

"It takes a village to build a float" -- African proverb My Fellow Americans, It has been a great honor and privilege to work alongside artisans and libertines of your stature. On behalf of myself, Lord Chestnut, and the High Council, I would like to thank you all for your float building service to your country, your Club, and our fair community. A round ofapplause is in order for your collective contributions. >Applause< On a personal note, I am happy to say that my own dark night of float building despair was, at last, transformed into burning glory on that cool Fourth of July morning past. There I was, teetering 'pon the abyss of discomfiting ruminatinations when, from out of the Independence Day mist, dwarf Nigerian goats appeared -- renewing my faith in the possiblities of America. In the end, the Dionysian Club float was a minor creative triumph and major endorsement of The Good Life. Clearly, the confluence of fermented beverages and artistic expression can be both personally and communally edifying. As such, we look forward to many more public displays of art and civic affection. Stay tuned for updates... and a resumption of arts & crafts night. Meanwhile, let us praise the many fine people that contributed to our parade pageantry. Before calling them out, I would first like to briefly reflect on an excerpt from an ancient Dionysian Club tome: """ * What is a Special Member? A Special Member is, well, besides that, a member who has distinguished themselves through generous contribution of time or money or food or wine, one who has shown themselves to be reliable partaker of indulgences, one whose zest for life provides a laudable example for others. A Special Member is an indefatigable worker and player, a champion of the dispossessed, an instrument of justice. """ Among our many contributors, three people in particular distinguished themselves as Special Members (though only one has been officially named as such). The Most High Council would like to recognize: Miss Mona, Amy D. (Madam Edam), & The Grey Fox (Sheik Ronnie) ...for service above self in conduct of Dionysian affairs. (A proper naming ceremony will follow.) Hey, we couldn't have done it without you. All hail these champions of the dispossed, these Special Members!
